New guidance. In November 2022 NHS England launched new menopause guidance. Although it has initially been aimed at NHS workplaces, which employ over 1 million women, it’s intended that this guidance can also be used by non-NHS employers. It covers how menopause symptoms can impact work; how an organisation can be menopause friendly; how to support those experiencing menopause, a framework for a wellbeing plan and a checklist for line managers.
Further resources. In addition, the guidance includes several non-NHS links and resources for those experiencing the menopause and their managers. With more tribunal cases being brought that are menopause-related, it’s worth following NHS England’s menopause guidance in addition to having a robust menopause policy.
